Wooly Pigs is a business formed to raise and sell pork like Europe's best.
To meet our goals, we have imported a herd of Mangalitsa, one of Europe's best tasting breeds. We raise the pigs the way the Europeans do.
Besides finishing its own pigs, Wooly Pigs provides live Mangalitsa to other producers, who finish them and market them in their local markets.
We work with all the Mangalitsa producers to help them produce the best pork they can. As American consumers learn how special Mangalitsa is, we will all benefit.
People buy Mangalitsa because it tastes incredible. Properly raised Mangalitsa hogs have incomparably good pork.

We help small family farms to stay in business by paying them a premium to raise Mangalitsa. Without a niche like Mangalitsa, most small producers must eventually exit farming.
Buying Mangalitsa helps to conserve the Mangalitsa breed, a breed that is fundamentally different from almost all pigs raised in America - because America (like many countries) got rid of its lard-type breeds a long time ago.
Wooly Pigs is owned by Heath Putnam.
Before Wooly Pigs, Heath wrote software to price and manage financial derivatives in Europe. He traveled extensively in Central Europe.
After encountering Mangalitsa while vacationing in Europe, Heath decided to bring Mangalitsa to the New World, knowing that many American consumers would find it irresistible.
Wooly Pigs is based in Washington.
